- No IR blaster or FM radio (except for T-Mobile units in the US, so far)
Samsung did well to bring back two of the most valuable features-microSD slot and water protection but the new design prevent accessing the battery outside the official service centre. FM radio and IR blaster that is missing for some reason at least in our Exynos version of the handset.
Update: the update software has enabled FM radio at least on T-Mobile's S7/S7 edge in the United States. It turns out that FM receiver hardware is always there and just not turned on in the launch. T-Mobile units are powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset, so technically there are options for all variants run on Qualcomm chips. Our international unit, however, running on Exynos 8890 and so far we have not heard about FM radio enable updates (if there ever would be one).
Now, any Deals that may exist in the debut week-free Gear included a VR headset-the edge of the Galaxy S7 keep in between the most expensive mobile phones produced in bulk now. But if Apple can cost a lot, there's no harm in trying Samsung as well.
